Jan. 20, 2026: Data vibes: What’s good at FOSDEM 2026 and beyond?
FOSDEM and its gaggle of colocated events, meetups and more is upon us! FOSDEM is regularly one of my favorite events of the year to attend and support. Mostly for my own benefit, here’s what’s on and interesting in the data space across the week across the data engineering and cloud computing spaces? I’ll divide this list into three categories: pre-FOSDEM weekend, FOSDEM devrooms and stands, and post-FOSDEM weekend. A 🌟indicates something I know I’ll be attending....
May. 1, 2023: Bluesky and the quandry of invite-only spaces
A preamble: the most exclusive event I’ve been to A couple of years ago, I sat in a hotel suite in Napa Valley, California. The suite was one of 200 surrounding a golf corse in the Marin County highlands, and nearly the entire resort had been rented out for the Linux Foundation’s Open Source Leadership Summmit , as it was every other year, when the summit wasn’t being held in Aspen....
Feb. 7, 2023: Create ✨ super professional ✨ screenshots with Mac OSX's Shortcuts app

Jan. 24, 2023: Open Tabs: January 2023
I didn’t do nearly as much writing as I intended to last year: suffice to say, things got a little tumultuous . After chatting with a colleague at my new job, however, I realize that there was a far lower barrier way to do this: write about what I’m reading currently. And thus (hopefully) begins Open Tabs, a series where I catalog my Open Tabs in a casual, easy way (and maybe close some tabs in the process?...
Mar. 20, 2022: On living in America in 2022
Hello. On February 14, 2022, I moved to America to work for Stripe . I’m super pleased to be working with Stripe’s excellent technical documentation team at a critical time for the company. Why America? in 2022? I struggled with my own answer to this for a long time. America is a country with a complex history and impact on the world. After September 11, 2001, it is increasingly a country in profound moral and spiritual crisis....
Dec. 25, 2021: Yuletide Rundown, 2021
Christmas Day is always a little sleepy in my house. As such, I get a little reflective. One of my goals this year was to start blogging again, and I love checking off goals. So let’s do a yuletide rundown and get the blog going again! Goals and themes, 2021 I create a list of yearly goals every year. Crucially, these aren’t “resolutions” to act differently. Those are too vague....
